Bikes for All People (B4AP) is a community bicycle shop owned and operated by Church and Community Development for All People (CD4AP). We are committed to providing affordable, reliable and predictable services and support to all bicyclists in our neighborhood and beyond. We seek to accomplish this through the following programs and opportunities:
The Bikes for All People Bike Shop - We operate a full-service bicycle shop that provides sales, service and accessories at affordable prices. While we do sell a selection of new bikes, most of our bikes are donated, refurbished used bikes. We do our best to keep prices as low as possible. Our parts and accessories inventory is a carefully chosen but thorough selection of products that will meet the needs of many types of cyclists including casual riders, commuters, competitors, and everyone in-between.
Youth Outreach - Through the course of the year, B4AP offers programs and opportunities for youth and children. For our youngest riders, we have a selection of used bicycles that are available free to any child who comes in with a parent or legal guardian. For older youth, we offer programs in the summer and occasionally at other times during which participants choose a bike, learn to repair and maintain it, and then keep the bike at the end of the program. As of January 2021, we have distributed 1500 children's bicycles and 1600 helmets free to children and youth in our community.
Group Rides - Most every Thursday from May through September, we lead group rides to various destinations around Columbus. We meet at 7:00 p.m. at the shop. Rides are usually no-drop rides of 7 to 10 miles. Most weeks, our ride leader will take us to an interesting spot on the South Side, Downtown, or another nearby neighborhood. We encourage beginning riders to join us. Helmets are required. Riders under 18 years old must have a parent or legal guardian who is riding as well. A couple of times each month, we will also offer a Saturday morning training ride starting at 8:00 a.m. at the shop. These rides will be 40 to 50 miles in length. The ride leader will set a pace that gets us done in under 3 hours. Check the Rides page on this site for details about upcoming rides.
Repair Classes and Open Shop - Watch for information about free repair and maintenance classes as well as open shop times later this fall and through the winter.
